Armory College Prep Middle School Program Wins 6 Awards at First Lego League Qualifying Tournament

On Sunday, January 13, The Armory College Prep middle school program competed at its first ever FIRST Lego League Qualifier event. The competition had three parts: the Robot Game, the Project, and the Core Values. In preparation for the challenge Armory College Prep spent three months programming an autonomous robot to score points on a themed playing field (Robot Game), developed a solution to a problem they have identified (Project), and used FIRST Core Values as a guideline for cooperation, teamwork and collaboration. Armory College Prep went to the event excited to show off all they had learned through their hard work and were thrilled to have earned 6 awards, one which is a "golden ticket" to advance to the New York City Championships in March.

The Armory's Great Minds, 5th grade reading and robotics program, will be participating at similar qualifying events in February.
