Rita Finkel serves as Co-President and Director of Armory College Prep at The Armory Foundation. She has been in various leadership positions at The Armory since April 2006. As a Co-President, she participates in overseeing the organization’s budgets, audits, and financial strategies, ensuring fiscal responsibility and strategic planning. She is also deeply involved in sponsor, foundation, and donor development, educational program growth, special events, and government relations that support The Armory’s mission.
Rita’s leadership extends to the Great Minds and Armory College Prep programs, The Armory’s signature educational programs for students in grades 4–12 who participate in track and field. Under her direction, the program has achieved a remarkable record: since 2016, 100% of senior high school graduates have been accepted into four-year colleges with strong financial packages. Her approach integrates sports and education, creating a holistic environment that prepares students for academic and athletic success.
Before joining The Armory, Finkel was the Executive Director of the Fencers Club, the oldest continuously running fencing club in the United States, where she was responsible for membership development and coach recruitment. Her tenure there included fostering a community that produced a significant portion of the U.S. Olympic Fencing Team.
Rita's career reflects a long-standing commitment to both sports leadership and educational excellence, and her work at The Armory Foundation continues to shape the intersection of athletics and academic achievement for young athletes. Rita is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a BA in Communications.
