CityTrack @ The Armory

&

Little Feet Presented by NYRR

The Armory’s CityTrack (Grades 6-8) and Little Feet (Grades 2-5) after-school programs are in session! This past Wednesday, October 11th, we welcomed new and returning children from the Washington Heights, Harlem, and Inwood neighborhoods. Students are running, jumping, and throwing, developing athletic confidence and strong physical abilities, and learning about health and wellness from our experienced and dedicated instructors. At the end of our last session, we distributed new t-shirts to the children, it was an incredible day, filled with energy, excitement, and learning experiences for our young participants. We were delighted to witness so many children on the track, eager to begin a year of physical activity, growth, and fun at The Armory!

Sessions meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Great Minds & Armory College Prep

We kicked off this year’s Armory College Prep Middle School program for students in Grades 6-8, along with the Great Minds program for our 5th graders! These programs focus on teaching participants Robotics skills, building and coding robots to complete missions, while also developing a sense of teamwork to achieve common goals. As the year progresses, students will participate in various activities and competitions, including the first LEGO League Challenge, where this year’s theme is ‘MasterPiece.’ In addition, students will be challenged to devise innovative solutions to problems they can identify in their community with art and technology, and our young financial enthusiasts will also participate in a virtual Stock Market Game. In this activity, teams will manage a virtual portfolio of $100,000 under the guidance of volunteers from AllianceBernstein, providing them with hands-on experience in financial markets.

The Armory College Prep High School fall Program began on Thursday, Sept 14th, serving students in Grades 9-12. Seniors have been working on their college applications, developing lists of schools, writing personal essays, and completing supplemental application requirements. Juniors are diving into SAT prep as they prepare for the multi-year college process. Freshman and Sophomores are receiving homework help and general academic support, while we help them begin their search for scholarships and grants that will help them pay for college when the time comes. We are in full-scale ‘recruiting mode’ as well, adding several new students to the program, and we hope to add many more in the coming weeks as high school track & field practice begins. We can’t wait to see our students excel and thrive this academic year and beyond!
