Real Friends Day Brings Joy to the Track
On Wednesday, March 18th, The Armory was filled with excitement, curiosity, and connection as we welcomed Guiding Eyes for the Blind for a special celebration we call Real Friends Day.
Friendship is one of the most meaningful connections we experience outside of our families. At CityTrack and Little Feet, we believe in recognizing and celebrating those relationships, especially the powerful bonds that inspire, support, and uplift our community. Real Friends Day highlights one of the most extraordinary examples of friendship we’ve seen: the connection between guide dogs and the individuals they serve.
Guiding Eyes for the Blind does incredible work training dogs to support members of the blind community, helping them navigate daily life with greater independence and confidence. Some of these remarkable dogs have even partnered with runners to complete full marathons!
During the event, more than 250 CityTrack and Little Feet athletes had the opportunity to meet three guide dogs in training. Students asked thoughtful questions, learned about the training process, and experienced firsthand the joy and impact these dogs bring to people’s lives.
Real Friends Day was a powerful reminder that friendship can take many forms and that some of the strongest bonds are built on trust, care, and connection. We are deeply grateful to Guiding Eyes for the Blind for sharing their time, their knowledge, and their incredible dogs with our community.
We look forward to continuing this special tradition for years to come.
